Why AΦΩ?

So what exactly are we all about? Yes, Alpha Phi Omega is a fraternity, but let's not jump to conclusions just yet. There are a few things that set us apart from the rest:

It's a leadership fraternity. When most people think of fraternities, they think of social fraternities, in which the greatest emphasis is placed upon a sense of belonging to a group. Wild Parties, flag football, pranks... all fine in their own right. But Alpha Phi Omega has a greater cause: that of leadership. Under the guiding principles of leadership, friendship, and service, Alpha Phi Omega provides leadership to the community by donating time and effort to various organizations and causes.

It's open to anyone. First of all, even though we are technically a fraternity, membership in Alpha Phi Omega is not open only to men. Anyone, from the brainiest bookworm to the wildest wild-child can join. You can even be in another social fraternity or sorority. The only criterion is that you have an earnest desire to help out those that need it.

It's a national organization. It's not only here that students have the opportunity to join this great organization. In fact, Alpha Phi Omega is the largest co-ed leadership fraternity in the world, with more than 400,000 members on over 375 campuses across the nation.

Every semester we pledge new members, both men and women, to join our fraternity. The entire pledge process is approximately 8 weeks of the semester. Pledge Meetings are 2 PM and General Meetings are 4:00 PM, every Sunday; pledges are required to attend all meetings. In addition to meetings, pledges will have to complete certain requirements such as quizzes, service hours, and interviews, to name a few.

Full details of all pledge requirements will be given by our Pledge Educator who will also guide pledges through the process. All pledges will be paired with an active member called a "Big" to guide them as well. Pledges will also be placed into 4 different clans, similar to the house system in the Harry Potter novels. Once pledges complete all pledge requirements, they will be given the opportunity to initiate into our fraternity by the initiation ceremony and truly become newly active members.

How To Join

If you are interested in joining our organization, we will be holding events, at the beginning of the semester, that introduce APO. On the last weekend will be our Pledge Ceremonies, which is required to pledge our fraternity. Sunday, September 16, 2018 is the first required pledge meeting in at 2 PM; attendance is mandatory for pledges. At the end of your pledge semester, if you have completed all the pledge requirements we will invite you to initiate into our chapter of APO.
